Kleenheat Gas supports the York Salvation Army with a $5000 donation

Kleenheat Gas will continue its ongoing monthly partnership to support The Salvation Army, when the company presents $5000 to the York Salvation Army this Friday 1 July at 10.00am to aid their Community Support Services and fund their proposed “Breakfast Club” initiative.

The Breakfast Club is a new concept that the local York Salvos are looking to introduce to the community, which would provide a healthy meal for children and simultaneously teach them about nutrition.

Kleenheat’s $5000 donation will be used by the York Salvation Army to introduce the Breakfast Club program into the community, and assist with their other ongoing Community Support programs.

Envoy Carol O’Leary from the York Salvation Army explains that the Breakfast Club will compliment other programs already in place such as their “Christmas Cheer” parcels of food, toys and gifts, and “The Chill Out Zone” which is the local Friday youth group for young people.

“I am overjoyed that finally we can make my vision of the Breakfast Club become a reality. This funding from Kleenheat Gas will enable us to supply the food and resources to make it happen, and I’m proud to announce we will be commencing the Breakfast Club on Friday 12 August,” said Envoy Carol O’Leary.

“We will be working closely with the local council’s Youth Worker - Lyn Kay and the Council will be providing the use of the Pavilion. Our Youth Intern and church members will be a big part of the Breakfast Club. I’m sure once we get this off the ground we will garner much more local support.”

“We think the Breakfast Club will work well with the other programs we currently have that support the local youth of the area, which is so important in York and our surrounding districts as it brings a sense of community to the area,” she said.

The donation will also help towards generally supplying food stocks and supplies, and other emergency resources such as toothbrushes and hygiene products for the centre, so they can continue to service general welfare clients in the region.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of Kleenheat Gas will be Kleenheat Gas Business Representative Mr Dave Jedrezjczuk.

Mr Jedrezjczuk said: “The Salvos are continuous in their support of welfare for the local region all year round – and their support at Christmas time and of the youth of the area is valuable. We know this $5000 donation will really make a difference to the Centre and their new Breakfast Club and we are proud to be helping the local York community.”

Also presenting the cheque will be local Kleenheat Gas Dealer Mr Darren Ericson from Home Hardware York, who said he found it very rewarding to present this valuable donation to make a difference to assist the hard work of the Salvos in the community.

The Regional Care Services program was established in 2009 with the purpose of supporting a different community in regional Australia each month by providing operational funding and donations.

Since the program’s launch, Kleenheat has donated $105,000 in cash and equipment including computers and whitegoods to various regional Salvation Army centres across Australia.

Earlier this year donations were made towards Queensland Flood Relief efforts, and donations in WA have included Mandurah and Toodyay for bushfire relief support.
